Cottage Food Business Kit: Recipe Costing, Batch Records, Labels & Canva Templates for Home Bakers

Plan, price, bake, label and sell from one organized system built for home bakers and small-batch food makers.

The Cottage Food Business Kit brings recipes, costing, batch records, labels, orders and marketing into one coordinated set of tools. Every file uses the same layout, folder tabs and form numbers, so a recipe card, a batch record, a cost sheet and a label all point to each other. Trace any loaf or jar from ingredient lot to customer.

How the system works

1. Research your local rules and set up your kitchen business.
2. Write each recipe by weight, then cost and price it.
3. Plan bake days and log every batch with a batch code.
4. Design labels with every required field as a placeholder, then check them against your state's wording.
5. Take orders and preorders, track pickups and sales, and review the dashboards.

Who it is for

Home bakers and cottage food producers who sell room-temperature foods: breads, cookies, bars, pies, jams and preserves, granola, candy and dry mixes. Useful whether you are not selling yet, already selling, or getting ready for markets and wholesale.

Formats and delivery

Instant digital download delivered as one ZIP file. Includes printable and fillable PDF, XLSX, Google Sheets make-a-copy links, Canva template links, PowerPoint and print PDF files. The Canva templates work with a free Canva account, and Google Sheets with a free Google account. No physical item is shipped.

Important

Cottage food rules (what you may sell, where, how it is labeled and whether you need a permit) vary by state and county. This kit helps you keep records and design labels; it does not decide what is allowed or certify any recipe, kitchen or label. Add your state's exact required wording before you print or sell. These tools are not legal, tax, accounting, insurance or food-safety advice.
